gnome-osd software package provides OSD message framework for GNOME, you can install in your Debian 7 (Wheezy) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnome-osd
gnome-osd is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnome-osd package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnome-osd *
You will get with gnome-osd package name, version, architecture and description in a table
